"Stats" shares a moment with some patrons.

The rebirth of the Bay City Base Ball Club was topped off by blue sky, filled with brilliant sunlight. It would see many smiles on the faces of ballists and spectators alike. Young and old all showed up to Carroll Park to bear witness to a beautiful day and a beautiful game, and none seemed to leave disappointed.

The Independents played host to the Regulars of Mt. Clemens on this day, and there were many highlights in the game. The match began with the coin toss which the Regulars won and they naturally chose to strike first. It was quite fitting that the first play of the game saw the Regulars Captain, the honorable Paul Hunkele, drive a howitzer shot to third base, where Branden "The Rope" Revette was tending the sack. The Rope was unable to make the play, but he took a tough shot and showed a great deal of sand in attempting to bottle the hot shot in style. This type of grit would show itself countless times for both sides in this match.

The Bay Citys would come out on top due to fine striking by the likes of "The Rope" and "Doc" Garcia. The Rope led all strikers by tallying three aces in the contest, and Doc, along with a host of others, was able to ring the tally bell twice for the club. Doc did lead the team with two great shots to the long field which allowed him to score aces with just two powerful swings of his red tipped club.


Spectators of all ages enjoy a fine game of ball!

The Regulars were led by a "Dock" of their own, and the Mt. Clemens catcher was able to tally the only ace for his club on this day. Although not many tallies were made by the Regulars their fieldsmanship was truly amazing. The gentlemen from Mt. Clemens were able to make incredible catches look completely routine. The Regulars Captain, Paul Hunkele, patrolled the left field and many sky balls found their end by landing in his hands as if they belonged there. Another fine play that brought the crowd to their feet was when the Regulars fine right fielder, "Whiskers", bottled a corker off the bat of Doc Garcia in style near the fence in the 4th innings.

After many great moments the game came to a close, and when the score was announced by "Honest" John Gravlin, who served as umpire, it found the Bay Citys on the top end of a 16-1 tally total.
