The Silverback derives his moniker from the great ape of the Dark Continent.  Like the great ape discovered in 1847, Mr. Rahl is a powerful force on the ball grounds, a leader on and off the field, and a protector of his fellow mates in the order of striking.

Jeff “Silverback” Rahl takes a big hack at a pitch during a match against the Rochester Grangers the summer of 2015.

Although it is speculative at this point it has been thought that the intelligence of the great ape also allows for the use of tools, such as a stick to help it in it’s daily endeavors.  There is however, no speculation on the part of the Mr. Rahl’s abilities to wield a stick with great fury often firing missiles at the opposition that send the fielders scrambling to retrieve the onion before too much damage is done.
